Duke Jeyaraj uses acronym P-A-C-K-E-R to pay tribute to the great evangelical Bible Scholar and asks questions of self reflection for the Google Generation

P-uritan Packer:
J.I. Packer was a puritan. He stressed on personal holiness. Search YouTube for ‘J.I. Packer Personal Holiness’ and hear what he has to say about this neglected topic (he clubbed repentance also with personal holiness). The ‘eggs on his face’ he got for preaching this did not ever deter him from preaching this! What do you regularly preach from the Bible? Just the things that will make you popular, win the crowd’s approval, and garner social media hits/likes/loves?
A-ccident-Scared Packer:
A child-hood accident left a clearly-visible-on-the-forehead mark on his face. He could have moved away from God post this traumatic accident. But, instead, he chose to move closer! Do troubles drive you away from God?
C-anada Moving Packer:
Stirred by the Spirit, he moved to Canada even though he was very successful as a theologian in England. Do you listen to God’s voice when it comes taking life big decisions? Or do you just follow your whims and fancies?
K-nowing God writing Packer:
Packer wrote the classic book, Knowing God. Our life’s ultimate purpose is not wealth-accumulation or comfort-creation. It is to know God and to bring him glory (Jer. 9:23-24)!
E-SV Gifting Packer:
The English Bible Version which wed original-text accuracy and the much-loved KJV-like English (sans the ‘thous’, ‘arts’, etc) was the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible. J. I. Packer gave visionary leadership to the A-class, Awesome team of Bible Scholars from different Church denominations who gave us this Bible serving as the General Editor for this accurate-to-the-original yet understandable-for-the-modern-English-reader. This Bible Version has a robust, never-crashing, even-can-be-used-when-offline SmartPhone App, the ESV App which I keep recommending to non-Christian friends I meet-up in my journeys!
R-eached by a Campus Ministry Packer:
Packer came to Christ when he attended an Inter-Varsity meeting in 1944 in Oxford University. This “E.U” (as InterVarsity Fellowships were called) reached great heights as a theologian and Bible Scholar! Do you invest in youth/campus ministry? Do you have time for young people?
