G4 Mission Event Reports & Testimonies

YOUR MESSAGES PUT A SMILE ON OUR FACES! THANK YOU!

Testimonies we have received of late (October 2022 to January 15, 2023) – Duke Jeyaraj & Evangelin Duke

“Recently I watched your Kahoot Quiz on Christmas Chapters. I learnt many things. Present Christian community is in dire need of such expositions. I have heard you answer questions of people. Your answers were very practical.” – a brother from Vijayawada, India via WhatsApp.

“I came to be corrected by God’s Word as I interpreted for you…. God’s Word was first to me in the line of receiving and next to the audience. I was translating outside but inside I was being convicted…” – one of Duke’s interpreters via WhatsApp writing from an Indian city.

“Keep plowing ahead Duke! You are a rare utensil God utilizes on this earth!” – a CEO and Christian Book Author living in the USA via LinkedIn.

“Thank you for sending me the book, Daniel In Dell. I cannot adequately explain the wisdom, the corrections, and convictions I received when reading that book. It is a must-read book for every believer who is starting out in the work-place!” – a church volunteer saved from another faith writing from Hyderabad via WhatsApp.

“God is so good and amazing and awesome. He gave me a privilege to translate the messages of my next generation son, Duke. Enjoyed his message even as I translated his message. God bless you Duke for your open talk. It will be useful for generations!” – Duke’s uncle, Pastor Gnanasekaran, after he interpreted for Duke in a youth meeting in October 2022, as Duke shared a message on sexual purity.

“Someone asked you about how you progressed as a preacher. I wanted to say two things with regard to this: one, you give spontaneous references because you know the Bible so well; another is that you keep up with current affairs and try to weave them into your preaching!” – someone who joined the Question Thirst Quenched Truthfully event where Duke answers live questions of audiences over Zoom, writing via email from the USA.

“I heard you preach in a camp for working professionals in Joe Beach, East Coast Road, Chennai. I also heard you make a presentation on hyper-grace false teaching in the Grace and Truth conference in New Life AG Church, Chennai in 2014. I really admired your passionate and energetic preaching. Thank you anna for being a great blessing to many. Your testimony about quitting your HSBC job in 2008 inspired us, as I also moved from a corporate job to fulltime ministry. I used to work for TCS and I am in the fulltime ministry since August 2020.” – a young man in fulltime ministry via Whatsapp.

“Though I am in the ministry, I have been struggling with porn addiction. It has been a tough time for me. However, I watched your sermon, Bro. Duke, on overcoming stubborn addictions and it was helpful for me!” – a young man via LinkedIn.

“Evangelin Duke’s article, When Failing To Plan Actually Works, published in Issue 40 of your magazine, The Days of Your Youth, really encouraged me and enabled to think how miraculously God works in my life. I was working in a MNC and quit my job and now I serve as a pastor in a town in Tamil Nadu.” – a young man writing from Tamil Nadu via WhatsApp.

“Dear Uncle Duke, after I heard you preach on sexual sin in Bethel IPA Coimbatore on 2 October 2022, I repented from worldly things…” – a young man via Instagram Messenger.

“I was looking for preaching about wrong teaching of Immortality on Earth. That’s when I came across one of your sermons on this topic. I am blessed by it!” – a young man from Coimbatore, via Instagram Messenger.

“I was in a relationship with an unbeliever. It was then I listened to your message on YouTube about this. I chose to end that relationship. God bless you, Duke anna.” – a young medical professional writing from Bangalore via WhatsApp.

“Claps! Thank You! (1) Excellent Brother Duke! (2) Excellent Interpretation! (3) Very good and informative article! (4)” – Four pastors after reading Duke’s article on the dangers on Hyper Supernaturalism in a WhatsApp group of Pastors doing ministry among English speakers in India and beyond.

“Thank you Duke anna for sharing the Word of God amidst us! Most of the youth had a good time listening to you!  Some 12 of them committed their life!” – one of the program organisers after a program Duke preached in, writing from an Indian City via WhatsApp.

“There are many preachers! Not everyone focusses on the kind of topics you focus on! That is what is needed for the youth!” – a young medical professional writing from United Kingdom, via WhatsApp.

“Hello Brother Duke! We heard Evan for the first time. She spoke so well. Was blessed!” – a church-volunteer couple writing from Vizag after Evan ministered in the Vizag Christian Assembly via WhatsApp.

“Thank you for the book, Straight Talk, sir. It is much needed for our generation! It was an eye-opener for me!” – a young man who is working in Chennai and doing a fully online Bible course via WhatsApp and a public Instagram comment.

“Dear Duke anna, You are a wonderful man of God, carrying the Word of God and the ministry on your shoulders preaching with boldness and courage. God uses your messages to deliver us from Satan’s snares and to guide us.” – a young woman who works for Infosys writing via WhatsApp.

“Bro. Duke, God has blessed you with very good communication skills and may God bless your ministry of calling youths for holiness!” – an IEM Missionary via WhatsApp.

“I listened to your message which you shared with medicos in CMC Shiloh 2022 on overcoming Tech Temptations. I saw the response to your altar call. Giving an altar call is important, but it is missing these days. I forwarded your message to many preachers on my WhatsApp!” – a senior citizen writing from Hyderabad via WhatsApp.

“Bro. Duke, You preached a missionary challenge message from Amos quoting Ida Scudder Story in the year 2002 in the New Life AG Youth Camp in Hyderabad. My daughter was truly challenged. She came forward during the altar call. She went on to became a doctor, a gynaecologist. She now serves God in a mission hospital.” – a senior citizen via Facebook messenger.

“Dear Duke sir, Your message on finding where to serve God and among who from Acts 16 deepened my understanding!” – a medical doctor writing from Andhra Pradesh via WhatsApp.

“Today was the my first time in your Kahoot Quiz, Duke sir. It was really a good experience. Your questions are so tricky and new. Thank you so much. I had an amazing time!” – a medical doctor writing from Andhra Pradesh via WhatsApp.

“I took part in your Romans Kahoot Quiz, brother Duke. Blessed to hear your clear explanation of Romans!” – a young professional writing from the United Kingdom via WhatsApp.

“Thank you uncle Duke, for the Romans Kahoot Quiz you conducted over Zoom today. It was the first time I was talking part. Was able to have a lot of key takeaways while at the same time enjoyed the one and half hours. Looking forward to the next.” – a young man writing from Mumbai via WhatsApp.

“Your talk in Shiloh 2022 on overcoming Tech Temptations really helped me a lot, Duke sir.” – a young woman writing via WhatsApp.

“The Bubbly tract, is one of your classics for sure, dear Duke!” – a senior ministry leader writing via WhatsApp.

“Just now read your tract Duke anna. The tract, Bubbly Outside, Yet Empty Inside. It’s really fabulous! You take secular examples to grab the attention of the reader and then share the Gospel through it. It is really nice anna. I too found a way to share the Gospel with my peers, thanks to this tract!” – a young medical doctor writing from Andhra Pradesh via WhatsApp.

“I read your gospel tract, Bubbly Outside,  Yet Empty Inside?, in my Bible College library. You have written it so well with contemporary examples. I am inspired by your zeal and passion to share about Jesus!” – a young woman writing from Bangalore via email.

In response:

For His Glory! By His Grace! Many more miles to go before we sleep! – Duke & Evan

Grabbing the Google Gen through 2022 from going to Gehenna, From Nepal to Saudi Arabia

Thank you for standing with us through 2022 as we tried to grab the Google Gen from going to Gehenna (hell). Here is a glimpse of our work in 2022:

After a session that Duke preached in, in Nepal during April 2022

The altar call time in Shiloh 2022 in CMC, Vellore, during Sept-Oct, 2022

Our regular monthly Zoom programs drew audiences from India over and beyond. They participated in 1) Fountain of Tears Against Mountain of Fears Fasting prayer 2) Kahoot Bible Quizzes – one winner from Saudi Arabia 3) Question Thirst Quenched Truthfully 4) Month-end Midnight prayer

During one of many Zoom Meetings this year!

Our monthly, or even more frequent, Tracts outreach using the Bubbly/Dhoni gospel tract in Chennai and Vellore reach many seekers standing in Bus Stands, Airports, Malls, Colleges, etc. Evan Duke gave these to even CSWs and shared the Gospel with them.

We took up invitations to travel and preach from organisations [like CMC Vellore (1500 medicos blessed)} as well as from churches (Bethel IPA, Jesus With Us, and others) in their National-Level programs as well as from fellowships operating inside top educational insititions (like IIT Madras).

We travelled to Nepal, Haryana, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and ofcourse within Tamil Nadu to preach God’s Word with the organisers paying for our ticket and inviting us warmly. Revival scenes at the altar, we witnessed these! Never preached to warm the inviter for a second invite! These messages are on Youtube.com/@dukej (over 2000 videos now). We also recorded messages in the ongoing Bible Study series, Chosen Chapter Chew Covering Contemporary Issue (C5I), and uploaded onto our YouTube.

We counselled those who reached out to us, via WhatsApp Audio voice recorded messages and live calls. Always told these folk what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear.

Now all three books of Duke – 1) Straight Talk, 2) Daniel in Dell, 3) Goodnews for the Google Generation – back in print. Issue 41 of our mag, The Days of Your Youth, published. ‘Dhoni’ tract reprinted. Articles for other mags written (AIM/Christian Trends). Literally 1000s of Bubbly/Dhoni tracts were ordered for Christmas Season outreaches.

We got back to print two books we had earlier published but were out of print!

Thro’ our own wesbites (this one and http://www.purposenmeaning.com) and social media we engaged the online Google Gen world-over and defended Sound Doctrine. YouVersion hosts Duke’s plans. All glory to God!

We defended sound doctrine through Social Media uploads!

Thankfulness and Defeating the Devil Are Connected

Dr. Duke Jeyaraj

Thankfulness & Triumphing Over Satan Are Connected

Rev. Dr. Duke Jeyaraj

That we be thankful is God’s Will for us. Apostle Paul wrote, ‘Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’ (1 Thess. 5:18). He also warned that in the ‘last days’ the gang of the ‘ungrateful’ will grow big and we must not join that gang (2 Tim. 3:1-5).  The writer to the Hebrews writes that must be thankful (Heb. 12:28). This thankful attitude will result in our worship of God with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire (Heb. 12:28-29).

The command to be thankful is repeated in various ways in the Old Testament. I counted that it is repeated a total of 47 times! In the book of Psalms alone we are told to give thanks to God, 37 times! In Chronicles 16 alone we are told to give thanks four times! When we cross over to the New Testament this command is repeated through various ways another 16 times at least! I am trying to think hard  which other biblical command is given so much of emphasis!

When we give thanks we copy Jesus gave thanks to the Father regularly during his earthly ministry. I counted that he did that at least three times during his earthly ministry (Matt. 15:36; 26:27; Jn. 6:11,23). And to become more and more like Jesus is the ultimate goal of our life (2 Cor. 3:18).

It is easy to give thanks when everything is fine in our life. But Job in the Old Testament (Job 1:20-21) and Anna in the New Testament (Luke 2:36-38) gave thanks, praised God and worshipped Him even during difficult times such as the loss of a loved one.

The sin of not acknowledging God or thanking Him can put us in a place where we are in the danger of being judged by God! Romans 1 warns us about this! Romans 1:21 talks about the sin of not giving thanks to God with the consequence being mentioned in Romans 1:24 and Romans 1:28 – a consequence of the work of the Spirit being effectively withdrawn from the lives of thankless people eventually so that they would further slide into unprintable sin and finally into the place of unimaginable torment, hell!

We must specifically thank God  for the people he has placed in our life – our spouses, our children, our pastors, our ministry team members, etc. Paul did that (Rom. 16:4; 1 Thess. 1:2).

In the above paragraphs I have combed through what the Bible mentions about thankfulness. But I am not done yet. The most important thing about thankfulness, I believe, comes in Revelation 12:11 though the word is not specifically mentioned. There, it is written that through the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of their testimony a group of people overcame the Devil. Through the blood of the Lamb we are forgiven of sin. So when Satan reminds us of our sin we defeat him and his plans for us by saying, ‘I am already forgiven – thanks to the Blood!’ But there is another way to overcome Satan this passage speaks about. This way is call the ‘Word of their testimony’! What is that? We can overcome Satan when we testify about God’s goodness upon our life. We can defeat Satan when we start to thank God daily, say for the blessings we receive from him. Mention the five or ten or fifteen or how many ever blessings God has graciously blessed you with to God and thank Him profusely! Not just that – acknowledge to the people around me the blessings he has given you! This way the Devil will be defeated!

I know this way of beating the Devil works! Every month, a small group of people from different parts of India and beyond join my wife and I on Zoom at 11:45 pm on the last day of the month. And we take time to praise God for the blessings he gave us that month before everyone. The Devil is put to shame that way. And we enter the new month with praise in our  lips. While the new month is never problem-free we experience unusual victories over Satan! Yes we have to deal with Satan till the return of Christ or till our death! But this praise method of putting Satan on the back foot really works, I can tell you that!

The month-end midnight prayer we had on 31 October from 11:45 pm to 12:15 am (half-hour) over Zoom! People gave thanks to God for the blessings they received! That way, the Devil was defeated and put to shame!

On the other hand, grumbling or complaining is like inviting the Devil to keep working in our life even more! And what is more, grumbling angers God. He sent death before the Promise Land entry for people of Israel who were stubbornly into the sin of grumbling (Num. 14:26-30). Paul reminds New Testament believers of this incident so that it serves as a stern warning, even during the post-Cross era (1 Cor. 10:10).

G4 MISSION: IMPACTING PEOPLE FROM TINSUKIA TO TIRUNELVELI!

Duke Jeyaraj / Annual Report of G4 Mission 2013

Grabbing the Google Generation from Gehenna Mission (G4 Mission) is an independent ministry founded by Duke Jeyaraj to bless present-day people. It is supported by Indians who have been blessed by the writings and preaching-teaching ministry of Duke Jeyaraj.

We at G4 Mission, wish you a very happy New Year 2014. We praise God for the wonderful way he has led us in 2013.

It was a year of SPIRITUAL BLESSING: My wife and I had intense times of intercession through the year. During May and in November we had specially good week-long times of intercession. God taught us from His Word. We were part of the RZIM National Conference where we learn encouraging, edifying and enlightening truths from Dr. Ravi Zacharias and his speaking team during Sept 2013. While driving our car during 2013, we listened to Uncle R. Stanley’s message, Arrows of Discouragement, which was a blessing. We have been blessed by the preaching of our local pastor, Sis. Arlene Stubbs. Her  series from the book of Hebrews enabled us to learn fresh lessons.

It was a year of MATERIAL BLESSINGS. In 2013, the Lord graciously added very useful things. We don’t do ministry to get things. But things are useful to do the ministry in a more efficient way. We were blessed with a Yellow Vespa Scooter in April 2013. We were blessed with a Benq GP 10 projector this year. As the icing in the God-given cake, we were blessed with a 20 20 Dell All-in-One Personal Computer this December. All the three gifts were given by Indians friends of our little work for the Lord. Three Indians made a single offering/donation/bank transfer for us to be able to buy these. “This is the Lord’s doing and its marvelous in our eyes!”

It was a year of FINANCIAL BLESSINGS. God moved the hearts of Indian folks of our ministry and as a result they made that online transfer, sent that money order, sent money through Western Union, etc, to us, this year. And as a result, every ministry is paid and all our needs were taken care of. We had offerings sent to us from those living Tinsukia to those in Tirunelveli! There were those who sent Rs.200 Rupees, those who sent Rs.2000 rupees and those who sent Rs.20,000 Rupees, this year! And for each of those sacrificial givers we praise God! Even those in full-time ministry were moved by the Spirit to send us an offering this year! Like we always do, we too have given more than a tithe of what we received to ministries we believe the Lord lead us to support, this year.  It was a year of MINISTERIAL BLESSINGS. Because I am in the final phase of working of my Doctor of Ministry project, I did not take up too many preaching assignments this year. Every month of this year, we were able to have a Bible Study for a small group of Google Genners at our home. These message were audio and video recorded and made available in http://www.soundcloud.com/shoutaloud (audio) and in http://www.youtube.com/visitduke (video) for a larger audience. Duke summarized the message of the books of 2nd Peter, John, I John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude and Revelation this year. Each time he used the name of the relevant Bible book as a summary for its message. Duke taught on Sexual Ethics, Fasting, Discipleship and Starting Small Group Fellowship, Intercession, etc, as well to small groups of Youtube Youth, this year. From June 2013, we have had the FOUNTAIN OF TEARS AGAINST MOUNTAIN OF FEARS fasting prayer every month to encourage the Facebook Folks to seek God’s face. It was  a blessing to intercede for the lost, the leaders and nations before praying for personal needs amidst us. Duke and Evan ministered in a camp for corporates in Bangalore, this year. Duke encouraged the believers of a large AG church during their lent season fasting prayer with two messages, this year. Duke spoke in the Sunday Services in towns as diverse as Trichy, Kolkata, New Delhi and Chennai this year. One of his most-remembered messages was from the Bible character of Uriah. He used this character to call the church believers to become faithful soldiers for Jesus. Duke even addressed the married women of a leading church telling them ways from the Bible as to how to understand typical men better, this year. Both Duke and Evan were involved in direct counselling, internet counselling and phone counselling this year. Marriages broken-down, questions about porn-watching, masturbation, sex, relationsihips, life partner choice, etc were answered, biblically and frankly with compassion. Young people were constantly told what they should hear, not what they wanted to hear. Duke’s writing ministry continued this year. Through Facebook updates (http://www.facebook.com/googleduke), through blog posts (http://www.purposespot.blogspot.in), through continued to wrap Bible Truth around contemporary events Jesus style, even this year. We continued to publish our magazine that does that, The Days of Your Youth, this year as well. Not only that. We printed two of our Gospel tracts for the Google Generation this year. The Bubbly tract and the Dhoni tract were given in 10 different locations during 10 different months by G4 Mission volunteers (including Duke) this year. A fellowship in Singapore ordered 300 copies of the Bubbly tract this year. A medical college student fellowship ordered 1000 copies of the Bubbly tract this year. This year Duke made fully online his two books – Straight Talk & Good News for the Google Generation – in his scribd account – http://www.scribd.com/duke_jeyaraj. We continued to distribute our two books. Eight copies of our twin books were ordered by students of Angola origin in the month of December 2013. A young woman living in Jharkhand wrote to us saying, “I have already both your books. When are going to write your next book?” Plans are on the anvil for two more books of Duke. God is blessing our ministry. Our children pray everyday, “Oh God of Isreal, please bless me, expand our borders, let your hand be with me and keep me from evil!” God is answering this prayer.

WHO IS DUKE JEYARAJ? (Originally written in 2011, this article was updated in 2019 on Duke’s 45th Birthday – 31 October 2019)

dukeinhopeuc5

Duke Jeyaraj, born to missionary parents from South India (His dad, Bro. A. Jeyaraj was one of the founders of Blessing Youth Mission), was saved at the age of 11 (in a Blessing Youth Mission program in the CSI Ranipet which Bro. A. Lionel addressed). He committed for full-time ministry at the age of 13 in a Blessing Youth Camp (following Bro. R. Stanley’s challenge). Since the age of 16 he has been preaching (his first sermon was in Ida Scudder School – Vellore). During his Agricultural Engineering Course (B. Tech.) in the Allahabad Agricultural Deemed University he actively witnessed for Christ by leading Bible Studies in the college hostel and going for tract distribution in the city with like-minded friends. After completing this course, Duke worked in Chennai briefly. During this time, Duke (who was 23 years at that time) was invited to speak to a group of Sri Lankan Tamil Youth by their pastor who read one of Duke’s articles published in a leading Christian magazine (Blessing Magazine). Since then, God has opened the doors for Duke to speak in various settings across different Church Denominations in over 20 Indian States (Punjab was the most recent new State he preached in) and in a few other countries. Church of South India, Church of North India, Society for Propagation of the Gospel, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Assemblies of God, Mennonite Brethren, Bakth Singh Assembly and other independent, non-denominational Pentecostal and non-Pentecostal churches, etc – these are some of the church denominations that have had Duke speak in their meetings. Duke also gets invited across organisational barriers. He has spoken in events organised by organisations such as Friends Missionary Prayer Band, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, Jesus Calls, Youth For Christ, Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship, Indian Evangelical Mission, Indian Evangelical Team, Compassion International, Evangelical Medical Fellowship India, Operation Mobilisation, India Missions Association, Metropolitan Mission, Evangelical Union, etc.

The wide acclaim and acceptance for Duke in Christendom is seen in the fact that Dr. Sam Kamaleson, the founder of Friends Missionary Prayer Band and former vice-president for World Vision International, has written the foreword for Duke’s first book. Rev. D. Mohan, the Assemblies of God General Superintendent of India, wrote an endorsement for Duke’s book, Straight Talk on Sex Love Marriage Porn and More, released in 2018. As did Rev. Anitha Aidinyantz (educator and minister of Gospel), Rev. Stanley Mehta the Overseer and Senior Pastor of the Gateway Ministries International (Mumbai) and Rev. Dr. Y. D. Jeyaseelan the National Overseer for the Victory Churches International (Delhi).

Duke has also served as an English Translator at one time for Bro. Mohan C. Lazarus’ God TV program.

Duke’s writing ministry is also inter-organisational. Light of Life, a leading Christian magazine that goes to about 20,000 folk across the world, publishes Duke’s Bible-light-shining articles on current topics regularly. “The Sowing Circle” (The Bible Society of India’s magazine), “The Sower” (Methodist Church’s magazine), “Insight” (Assemblies of God’s Bible College Annual Magazine), “AIM” (Evangelical Fellowship of India’s magazine), “Blessing” (Blessing Youth Mission’s magazine), “Kerith” (the youth magazine of Friends Missionary Prayer Band) and the printed voice of the Indian Evangelical Team – all have carried Duke’s articles at various times.

At various times, Indian newspapers/news-magazines such as Outlook, India Today, The Week, The Sunday Indian, The Sportstar, Frontline, The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle, etc have carried Duke’s hard-hitting comments on sports events and contemporary events.

It has been Duke’s privilege to speak to college students right in their campus on hot youth issues from the Bible, over the years. Duke has addressed students in Christian Medical College-Vellore, Madras Christian College-Chennai, Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, National Institute of Technology (REC)-Trichy, Pondicherry Central University, Kurnool Medical College, Lady Doak College-Madurai, Bishop Heber College-Trichy, Karunya University-Coimbatore, etc, at various times on timely topics. Duke has even preached to the students of St. Aloysius College, a Roman Catholic Secular College in Jabalpur at one time.

Duke also has spoken in some schools to teens on subjects like relationships with parents, elders and the opposite gender, on writing exams well, on wise career choice, etc. He was a featured speaker to teens in Mount Carmel Schools, New Delhi.

Duke has the honor of speaking to Corporate Company Employees right inside their office campuses. He had done that in Mindspace IT Park and in CyberGateway IT Park in Hyderabad. He was featured as a speaker in a National-level God@Work Corporate Company Employees Conference in Bangalore. Duke has addressed the believers of one of India’s leading IT companies in their National-level meet. Talking about National level meets – Duke has address youth gatherings of the Assemblies of God, the Indian Pentecostal Assembly, Church of South India, Evangelical Medical Fellowship (Shiloh), etc.

Duke has briefly worked in Corporate Companies (including the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) group). While he worked there, he conducted brief break-time fellowship meetings right inside the office premises.

Duke, at various times in his life, has served as a youth pastor, Bible College Teacher, Writer, Editor, Counsellor, Travelling Missionary Revival Preacher, etc.

Every time and where ever Duke speaks, he constantly seeks to call the audience to repent from their sin and trust in Jesus who is the only way, by presenting Bible Truth wrapped around contemporary events the Jesus Luke 13:1-5 way. And the results have been very very encouraging. Hundreds have to Christ following his messages. Duke also expounds the Word of God in a practical way so that at the end of these messages the audiences are challenged for holy living, witnessing and ministry involvement through the local church and para-church organisations. Some young people have joined fulltime ministry having committed their lives for the same after one of Duke’s messages. Duke in 28 years of itinerant preaching has always adhered to pulpit ethics – he has never used the pulpit of a church or a ministry to shoot down its own doctrines and beliefs. Instead, he has always sought to build up, encourage, challenge, motivate the audience and make them more effective and more energetic in their own local churches or other ministries they are already involved in.

Duke has addressed crowds over one thousand on different occasions. While he has done this, he also keeps addressing small groups of people as well.

Duke lives in Hyderabad with his wife, Evan, who is also an itinerant speaker. They have two little children – Dale and Datasha. Duke has the following theological degrees: Masters in Divinity (Gold Medal) and Master of Arts in Christianity. He started his doctorate in ministry (D. Min.) in Southern Asia Bible College, Bangalore in 2009 and graduated in 2014 (he, along with one other classmate, was the quickest to graduate) with his project on making disciples of Jesus out of Information Technology Professionals.

Duke, in Feb 2006, started G4 Mission – an inter-denominational, inter-organisational organisation that aims to grab the Google Generation (modern youth) going to Gehenna (Hell) using creative ways. This Mission is run by free will offerings of Indians who believe in its vision. Duke and his wife are now the full-time staff of this ministry. The day-to-day operations of this ministry are practically executed by volunteers who are in different places and in different jobs (Our video volunteer works with Infosys). G4 Mission is governed by an independent Government-registered Trust which includes non-relatives of Duke in it. The accounts of this Trust are submitted to the Government of India annually. Duke publishes a magazine called, “The Days Of Your Youth”, once in two months. This magazine wraps Bible Truth around contemporary events. In November 2010, Duke released a book titled, “No Beating About The Bush Straight Talk On Hushed Up Matters: Contemporary-event wrapped essays on what the Bible has to say about sex, love and marriage, plus more!” after many years of distributing his books in the photocopy spiral bound format. This book was printed by Word of Christ publishers in an undated format in 2018. Daniel In Dell and The Goodnews for the Google Generation are two of Duke’s other books (out of print now).

The testimonies of those who have been immensely blessed by Duke’s writing ministry come from across the globe from different countries. Duke believes he is called to be one of the donkeys invited to carry Jesus to the modern generation – a generation he calls ‘Facebook Folk’, ‘Hotmail Herd’, ‘Yahoo Youth’, ‘Google Generation’, etc.

The B questions to ask before you choose your life partner – Duke Jeyaraj

white Duke

You are perhaps considering someone. You are perhaps praying about someone. “Someone,” who? Someone, who could be your life partner. Someone you would wake up with for the rest of your life. Someone who would be father/mother to your babies. It’s a big decision. You can change your computer printer – but not your life partner, according to the Bible. That’s why, this is a big decision. How can you be sure that a certain ‘someone’ is God’s chosen person to be your life partner? Here are some key questions to ask yourself before you prayerfully decide:

1. Is that person a BELIEVER? Is that person BORNAGAIN? The Bible is clear: falling in love with an unbeliever and later converting that  person to Christ is not an acceptable or recorded missionary statergy in the Bible. If the person you are interested in, is not a believer ALREADY, you are not certainly in the will of God with regard to your life partner choice. The one you take to bed, will influence your head, even if you are the wisest man on the earth. Ask Solomon he will tell you. He ended up worshipping idols influenced by his idol-worshipping wives. He did not convert them. They converted him.

2. Can you sail in that person’s BOAT? In other words, do both of you have the same life goal? Are you both willing to sail in the same direction, like Mr. and Mrs. Noah were? Or do you resemble Mr. and Mrs. Lot – a couple that went in the opposite directions? Amos 3:3 says, ‘two people who walk together must be agreed with each other’. Marriage is a life-long walk together. If you are desirous of being involved in ministry during your offs and other free times and if your partner does not enjoy this at all, say ‘tata’ to that partner.

3. Does the person possess the same BRAIN-WAVE LENGTH as you do? Marriage is not about having sex 24/7. It is about conversations over coffee. Converstations in bed.  Conversations and more conversations. Find a person with you can converse with without having to make too much effort. Find a person in the same wave-length as you are in.

4. Is that person BEAUTIFUL in your eyes? Read Ezekiel 24. In that chapter, you will discover the Prophet Ezekiel called his wife, ‘the delight of my eyes’. It is important that you find a partner you looks beautiful in your eyes or is as beautiful as you are (so make sure you keep looking at the mirror often so that you know how ‘beautiful’ you first are – sorry, if I was too blunt here!). Beauty, of course,  lies in the eye of the beholder. But don’t make beauty the only deciding factor. It is only skin deep or make-up deep or studio-photography deep (in today’s world!). Kick away traditional views on beauty – ‘the girl should be milk white!’,  ‘the boy should be twin towers tall!’ etc, etc. Grow up!

5. Does that person have the BUCKS to take care of you? After you get married, both of you need to pool in resources and make ends meet. If that is not going to be feasible, think again about the choice of the life partner, you are about to make. Dowry-demanding, directly or indirectly is wrong. It amounts to male-prostitution, according to me. And male-prostitutes do not make it to heaven, mind you, the Bible records! But a boy and a girl who are going to get married must count the cost of starting a new family and must be willing to adjust and live with the financial resources they pool-in together. Both the girl’s parents and the boy’s parents must bless them voluntarily with resources to help them settle down and start a new home.

6. Does that person have a BADGE OF APPROVAL from the elders? Samson and Easu threw out good parental advice when it came to life partner choice and paid for it, dearly. If advice from elders comes in line with God’s Word, take it. You would be wiser at the end of the day.

Keeping these ‘ 6 B’ questions in mind you can be wise in your life partner choice. Pray about the matter. If you have peace go ahead. If peace follows your prayer, the decision you have taken in line with God’s written Word, the Bible, is a God-guarded decision (Phil 4:6,7).  Do not postpone your choice of life partner giving some excuse or the other or by looking for a perfect life partner. When beauty queens did this, they became beggers (Isa 4:1).

There is another way one can look at this question:

Commanding Scripture: Is the partner I am considering a believer?

II Cor 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

Controlling Spirit: Do I have peace when I pray about him/her?

Phil 4

The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Counsel of Saints: Do others who mean good to me, especially elders and parents, think we will make a good pair?

Proverbs 11:14

Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Circumstantial Signs: Is God opening the doors for me to marry that person? For example, is she/he saying ‘s’ to the proposal of marriage?

Genesis 24

Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this [2] I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”

For the 4 ‘CSs’ I just used, I am grateful to Nicky Gumbel who first talked about them in one of his books.

Post Script: This article is for those who are working and in the age bracket to be married.  But if you still studying, please concentrate on your studies and be friends with everyone in your class instead of spending all your time with a boyfriend or girlfriend; student days are not the best times for romantic love; there is time for everything! (Eccl 3). Falling in love during your student days could potentially drill two holes into your system, one, in your heart, and, another, in your purse!
